Discover new places
How well do you know your local area? A nationwide community project is asking people to look again at the buildings, countryside and environment around them to help us create a green legacy from the Games.
Discovering Places is part of the London 2012 Festival, and includes events, interactive programmes and education projects to encourage people to celebrate and discover the history and nature on their doorstep.
Among the projects is Meet the Species, which hopes to run the largest survey project ever in an attempt to find and collect data on 2,012 rare species so that environmental agencies can create better habitats to secure their future.
The full London 2012 Festival programme was announced last month.
