Girl power rocks in Midlands rugby
More than fifty girls in Burton are donning their mouth guards and hitting the rugby pitch, thanks to an award winning legacy project.
Burton Girls Rugby was nominated as the best Sportivate legacy project in the West Midlands after attracting local youngsters into the sport. It forms part of a nationwide drive to get teenagers to choose sport.
Kelsey Grigg, captain of the U15 team said: “Each and every one of the girls’ confidence, fitness and ability has improved.”
Tom Bartram, Development Officer for Staffordshire at the Rugby Football Union, added: “Rugby prides itself on being a sport for all and women’s rugby is an expanding part of the game.”
