All Smiles for London 2012
People are being asked to send images of their smiles on mobile phones to “create a global string of smiles” covering the planet as part of a London 2012 festival exhibition.
The worldwide event, #smilesfilm, is part of Yoko Ono’s To the Light exhibition at the Serpentine Gallery.
Conceived as a way of connecting people across the world, the project shares a lot in common with the Olympic values.
Visitors from all over the world can drop in to a specially designed photo booth installed outside the Serpentine Gallery and record their smiles. These images will then be collected to make #smilesfilm, which will be shown on a screen at the Gallery, a dedicated website smilesfilm.com, and apps for iPhone and iPad.
